My Lily

"Pop!" Goes the Lily!
Tuesday was Lily's birthday.  She is now, officially a "big girl."  Apparently, four is a very important age, and somehow much older than three.  This was the first birthday that she had definite opinions about, from the type of cake to who would be at the party.  She had a birthday "tea" for three of her friends, along with assorted family members.  The menu included princess, angel, and clown head cupcakes, ice cream, and cheese curls.  (There were a few other things, such as apple slices and carrots, but I sort of snuck those in).  She also poured the tea herself (her favorite, lemon juice and honey in hot water), and told everyone where to sit and when to eat.  She was definitely the birthday princess for a day!

Lily is so much fun to watch grow up!  She has a great sense of humor, and she enjoys learning new things.  One of the great things about homeschooling is that you can start kids on things when they're ready, not in September when they should be going to school.  So, we just in the past month started piano lessons with Music for Little Mozarts: Deluxe Starter Kit, and reading with Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning Readers.  We're also using magnetic letters to learn to read and spell, and she loves a dry-erase numbers book that I had bought for Rory when he was little.  It's so funny that she is totally excited to have "school," while I still have to jump through hoops to get her brother to do the same things!  Sometimes you have to wonder how they could be related.

So, we seem to be entering a new era around here.  No more babies, or even toddlers.  It's a little sad sometimes, but I love seeing the great people my kids are growing up to be!
