VBS - Day Three

For the last two days, our crafts person has been out sick, so I've been somehow elected.  Actually I don't mind, because the music is done all together at the beginning, so otherwise I was kind of acting as gopher or something.  It's been interesting, to say the least!  I never spent much time teaching art or anything, so it's a bit of a stretch, and I've learned a few things along the way.

1.  Have lots of help!  This was one of the crafts for today.  The littlest kids basically needed a person helping each of them, because they had to string beads, a whistle, a flashlight, and a magnifying glass on a cord.  Did you know that if you push all of the things too far on the cord, they all come off the other end?  Hmmm.  Anyway, I was fortunate to have great help for this one!

2.  It is much easier to teach fifteen kids a song, than seven kids how to put crafts together!  This is the oldest group working on their "survival necklaces."  I love this picture by my friend Nan...it captures some of the confusion I felt trying to get everyone together on this!

3.  Crafts can be messy!  This is Rory after painting a clothespin green.  They are doing this in preparation of turning them into locusts tomorrow.  Today's lesson was on John the Baptist, and the emphasis was on the fact that God has a plan for each of us.  If we trust him, and obey his leading, he will show us the right path.

4.  Crafts can tax your brain!  By the end of the day I was calling them paperclips instead of clothespins.  I have no idea why!

I'm hoping that the person who is supposed to do crafts will be back tomorrow, but if not we will get through.  The kids will just have to put up with me again - Mwuahahahah!
